This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students need to obtain hands-on experience using a microscope instead of just looking at diagrams of specimens from the book. In the real world, students will need to be able to utilize scientific equipment in occupations such as lab technicians, histologists, and research biologists.

The majority of the students that attend this school come from a low income area.

However, the students are very energetic and willing to learn. They especially like to do hands-on projects and learn by doing. In addition, the students will be enormously helped when they are practicing real science.

My Project

When we receive our microscopes we will be able to do hands-on observations of the Kingdom Protist. Also, the students need experience with using microscopes because this is required in High School. We will also be able to see onion root tip cells, and be able to see the different phases of mitosis. Being able to see real cells using the microscopes fascinates the students because they seldom get to observe this hidden world. The students will be able to gain a vast amount of knowledge using the very basics of scientific instrumentation, the microscope.

I implore you to support this program because it will help the students more enthusiastically learn about Protists and cells.

Being able to see cells and Protist as they really appear will help the students feel the reality of science.
