My Students
We only have one microphone that is built for a single voice which is currently supporting 150 kids in the band and 50 kids in the chorus. These new microphones will give us the sound support and balance we need!
There are over 800 students in our urban middle school and we have great cultural diversity.
Over 85% of our students are eligible for free or reduced cost lunch. Within our school there is a smaller academy consisting of about 146 students all of which must be in the band program! My band students are academically accelerated and highly motivated. Our school band has recently expanded to include 6th grade students, adding 48 students to our roster. In addition, our school has also started a choral program with an average of 50 students participating. The band and chorus have already performed together twice this year! However, the chorus was barely heard over our band due to the lack of a supportive sound system. What a shame! Please help us support our growing music program's sound so that all students participating can show off their hard work and talents! My Project
Our current microphone is only intended for podium use and will only pick up one voice from a very close distance. The new microphones we are asking for would be able to pick up sound from multiple directions and from farther away. All of a sudden, with these new microphones for amplification, we could balance the sound of our new school chorus and our band without sacrificing the technique of either group. If we were to receive these new microphones, stands and cables, they would meet the minimum requirement for how we should be amplifying our performers on stage. Our music program is continuing to grow but our sound system is pretty much nonexistent. Please help us balance our performances with the proper equipment!!
Our inner city school music program is about to explode with excellence!
We are growing every year and students' performance opportunities are more frequent and diverse. With the addition of the choral program, many more students are getting hooked on music! With your support and generosity, acquiring these microphones would make each performance experience even more profound by showcasing the proper balance needed between the band and chorus and helping every voice (and instrument) get heard!
