Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

The Grandview Elementary School Library Media Center services all students in our K-3 building. Our population includes six special education classrooms, two autistic classes as well as our regular education K-3 classes. A total of 450+ students visit the library for 40 minutes each week. As a certified teacher and library media specialist, my lessons enrich and extend classroom literacy and research experiences. Sound amplification systems have traditionally been expensive to purchase and install. But with the help of DonorsChoose, I will be able to acquire an Interlink GoSpeak!- Ultra-Portable Amplification System. This amplification system requires no installation?you simply plug it in and turn it on. Our special education, autistic and regular education population will benefit by enhancing their ability to access information, especially the spoken word. Several research studies and white papers cite the benefits of incorporating amplification systems into learning spaces. Some of these benefits include: ? Children Will Hear Their Teacher Significantly Better ? Attention and On-Task Times Improve ? Class Interaction and Participation Increases ? Classroom Stress is Lowered ? Behavior Problems are Reduced ? ESL Children Score Higher ? Children with Learning Disabilities Can Benefit Please support us as we continue to improve literacy instruction in our K-3 building?from Phonemic Awareness to sharing of the best in children's literature.
