Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

In a class like television production, students are motivated to do better work if they have better equipment. For years we have recorded with small flip cameras with no audio input, but now we have new equipment and new standards, but 200 kids need more than a few good cameras.

In the age of information, my job is to arm students with the knowledge to make an impact in their community both locally and globally through video storytelling.

My students are eager and enthusiastic about TV Production, but unfortunately our equipment is outdated or just not adequate for our needs. In the last year my students have produced an award winning short film about a Deaf classmate that is gaining local attention, and they have built a relationship with our community by covering the city's Centennial events. In order to keep up with all their projects, their equipment needs to keep up as well. As this project gets funded, my students will have competed in state competition for the first time, and thanks to previous donations they are going with great equipment. We also produce a weekly news and entertainment show that serves our school.

My Project

My students need a camcorder to record events around the school and in the community. The camera will go a long way in adding a professional touch to the work we are doing. The kids have the skill and the creativity, but the equipment we have limits their ability to do a lot of the things they envision. This camera and the accessory set will enable the kids to realize their vision and provide the top notch productions that are now expected of us.

My students see what a lot of other more affluent schools in the area are doing and think that we can't produce similar content because we don't have the same equipment.

This camera will be a great step in getting them to the next level and building their confidence so that we can compete, especially with our plans to participate at states and other competitions.
