When students start their school day it is important that they come to class ready to learn. Many students however have life events that get in the way. As educators we need to help provide them with resources to help them focus and deal with those life events so they can learn.
The students at my school are an amazing group of kids.
They are eager to learn, but often struggle with divorce at home, financial strains, or lack of emotion regulation skills that get in the way of them learning. The community is very rural and many resources are not available to these students. School is a place where they can come to learn, but they need to learn to control their emotions so they are present in class to learn.
My Project
I am asking for Hokki stools so kids will learn to sit still in class so they can focus on the lessons. I am also requesting tools like the conversation dice and the many different Julia Cook books that will be used to help students overcome those life obstacles that get in the way of their learning. We all want to see kids succeed and for students it is not as easy as saying "leave it at the door". Each day they walk into the school with lots of emotional baggage and we as educators need to help them learn to deal with this baggage so they can learn in class.
This project is so important because we all want our kids to come to school ready and eager to learn.
However, without the tools in this project many of our students are unable to focus in class on their education. Together we can make a difference and help teach these kids valuable emotional regulation skills they will have for the rest of their lives.
