Imagine the possibilities! Having iPod Touch digital devices in my classroom would allow me to integrate technology into language arts, mathematics, social studies and science as I prepare my sixth graders to be twentieth century, technologically savvy students.
I teach thirty-three sixth grade students, along with a teaching team of four others who teach the same number of students, in a Suburban school of approximately 1000 students.
Our school serves students from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. I believe in the partnership between school and home as well as community involvement in fostering the success of all students at high levels. The students that I serve include English Language learners, Special Education students and Gifted and Talented children. Therefore, my goals are to individualize learning and my teaching to meet the needs of all students from those who need practice and reteaching to those have met grade level and state standards and are ready to take their learning to the next level.
My Project
Using iPod Touch digital devices in the classroom will allow me to seamlessly integrate technology with learning in a variety of curriculum areas. It will further allow me to assess student learning and achievement. These devices will be used daily for students to access websites and educational applications to support learning and state standards. In language arts, iPod Touch devices will be used to support learning while students work in literature circles. The devices will be used to record discussions allowing me to assess student understanding and students to evaluate the effectiveness of their literary analysis discussions. In mathematics, the iPod Touch devices will be used to access websites that support curriculum and the development of higher level computation and problem solving skills. Finally, in other curriculum areas, the iPod touch devices will be used to integrate technology and learning.

Technology resources in our building are limited so I am not able to have any of these devices in my classroom. There are endless possibilities for how much having a set of iPod Touch digital devices in my classroom could impact the learning environment.
