My Students

Do you remember how much you loved share time and presentations as a child? Daily, my students present the stories they write. A camcorder would allow students to see their presentations and improve on their communication skills.

My fourth grade students have 45 minutes of daily writing time.

Out of 78 students, each and every one is eager to spend some time sharing the stories he/she has developed. Even if a draft is not complete, classmates love giving feedback to the presenting peer. It would be wonderful if the presenting peer could see and hear him/herself presenting his/her story.

My Project

Communication in society is key. It is vital that all students are able to communicate their thoughts on paper and through verbal words. During writing time, fourth grade students at my school are given the opportunity to do both. First, they write. Then, they present. I think it is essential to have a camcorder in the classroom. This way, students can watch themselves present and improve on their verbal communication skills.

I am the fourth grade intervention and writing teacher.

Mostly, I plan on using this camcorder for the three classes that I teach writing in. I also think this camcorder would be beneficial to use when students present their ideas during small group intervention.
