My students needs storage materials to help organize and enrich our new science classroom space. After two years on a cart, we now have a huge learning lab to fill!
My students are inquisitive and excited to learn by doing... and now we have a physical space to make this happen! I am not OFF of the cart, and INTO a classroom! This project will help me make the new Think Tank/Science Lab a great space to learn.
My students represent a diverse group of PS through 5th graders in Northeast Washington, DC.
Our DC Public School is one that truly values inquiry and learning by doing and our students continue to rise to our expectations every day. From the youngest preschool student to the oldest 5th grade student, all receive science instruction in the classroom and practice in Habits of Mind using their Multiple Intelligences in our Think Tank program. Our unique school is a special one, with over 300 unique and eager learners.
My Project
Our unique Think Tank and Science Program allows students to practice important problem solving skills by completing fun challenges and science experiments. I have requested organizational and science lab materials. For two years I've been bringing these activities to students on a cart, but now we have a classroom and these materials will help engage them even more.
We need safety goggles to allow our students to complete a wider range of activities (including making straw rockets and exploring different types of matter). The caddies will allow students to spend more time on their collaborative work, and less time searching the class for materials. The fingerprint kit will allow a group of budding detectives to explore fingerprints at a much deeper level -- something they began last year just with magnifying glasses. While these materials and basic equipment seem small, they make a world of difference for the over 300 students who will use this space each week. Thank you!
