My Students

Chemistry is meant to be a hands-on science. Unfortunately when we get hands-on we sometimes break things.

My students attend a rural Michigan school.

They are 10th-12th graders. They are taking either chemistry of nutrition. In both subject areas they prefer to do labs over taking notes. They are motivated students who show up every day ready to work and learn.

My Project

I am requesting various pieces of lab glassware in order to replace what was damaged last year. All of the damaged items were unintentionally damaged by students. Unfortunately we all get clumsy once in a while and drop a beaker or tip over a graduated cylinder.

This is important because students learn best when they can actively engage in labs.

They also deserve to be able to work on labs without fear of having to pay for equipment that they didn't mean to damage. This project will allow me to keep my classes lab based without forcing student to pay for accidental damage.
