I teach in a high-need elementary school in North Carolina. It is a third grade classroom bursting with energy and creativity. I am always looking for new ways to spark their learning. As an educator, I am constantly looking for new and fresh ideas that will engage my future scientist and mathematicians! My school district recently invested in a website called Discovery Education. It is an amazing collection of images and video clips that captivated my students. The site also contains many informative online labs the students can use to conduct their own experiments, without the mess! Unfortunately, the school I work at just doesn't have the resources available to be creative and use technology in the classroom. I was so excited they took an interest in learning, but knew I needed something more to make it even better! I am asking for an LCD projector to display the various clips and images and conduct online labs, in an area large enough for the students to see clearly without having to huddle up around my computer monitor! I know that adding this projector will allow me to use technology and Discovery Education on a whole new level. Your donation will enable my students to be able to display technology based projects, practice presenting orally, gain a strong basic set of skills in science and math. I have seen classrooms that were able to harness the power of putting projects up on the "big screen", and displaying clips of animals and scientific topics that they normally wouldn't have had a chance to experience!
