My Students

"Do not wait for extraordinary circumstances to do good action; try to use ordinary situations." -Jean Paul Richter My classroom is the perfect place for children to learn how to make a difference in the world. We need a reading center with books that focus on the environment in our classroom!

My students are first graders at a title 1 school in a rural part of South Carolina.

They are eager to learn about the world around us and how their small hands can make a big impact on the world! Some of these children know nothing about the environment and how our earth is changing for the worse. I want them to understand that it is up to EVERYONE to be responsible for our earth and our actions!

My Project

This set of books and reading rug that I have wished for will "make our classroom!" The overall "theme" of this first grade year is to MAKE A DIFFERENCE! "The major problems in the world are the result of the difference between how nature works and the way people think." ~ Gregory Bateson Be the change we want to see and be a part in the world!

This reading center will help my children become the leaders of tomorrow.

The world we live in today is borrowed from them. If we teach our children how to take care of our Earth and themselves, there will always be a tomorrow. This is one way we can make a difference and make it truly a "Wonderful World!"
