My Students
Help high school photography student find their own voice, but for them to do this we desperately need new digital equipment!!!
My students are facing the problem of our photography class being left behind in the new digital frontier.
Our program has a great traditional film base but is lacking the materials to continue to move forward and allow students to both experience the traditional with the new digital formats. My students come into the class expecting photography to be easy and not much to it. After just a couple of weeks in the class they begin to see that there is so much more to photography than just pushing a button. We start out with photography's most basic format pinhole camera's and move into film based photography. The challenge they are facing is photography is always evolving with technology and we lack in the digital department. Students are eager to learn about the digital side of photography as well. Even one more digital camera will add to building a successful photo department. These student want to know all about photography and are eager to use it in all mediums especially the digital
My Project
I am requesting a new DSLR camera. Even though it may seem like one camera will not make a lot of impact, it defiantly will! This is a great camera for students to learn with it comes with all the full manual features of a more advance SLR camera while appearing and operating like a point and shoot making the learning process less intimidating, and more intimate and EXCITING!!!
I believe this project and digital camera is important because it is a key to keeping student hooked and interested in photography. Students love using and learning with technology and this one camera will add to the few I have allowing even more students access to the digital side of photography and learning. Students will have instant feedback to see if they are learning from CA state standard 2.0 creative expression with the use of a digital camera.

My students need a quality Canon digital camera to move our photography program into the digital age and become a hybrid photography class.
By having this new camera my student will start to learn how to find their own voice and express this through the visual means of photography.
