My Students

Goldilocks went into the house of the three bears and had to suffer through soup that was too hot and too cold before she finally found soup that was "just right!" My students need these "just right" books that they can read independently to build confidence and foster a love of reading.

My students have a variety of educational disabilities.

Some are 2-3 grade levels behind and they are working hard to make gains every day! They are in a self-contained classroom for most of their instruction, but they join their peers in other general education classes for some social studies instruction and all of their school specials. My students are in the stage where for many of them, they are just beginning to unlock the skills to turn them into fluent readers - I want to help foster their love of reading in every way that I can.

My Project

These engaging leveled readers will make it easy for students to select books that they can confidently read independently. They will also ensure that students will continually have new texts available as they make progress. They can be organized by level in individual baskets, and students will be able to explore all of the texts and enjoy reading them with others or independently.

Research shows that independent reading is a huge factor in reading achievement!

These materials will empower my students to choose "just right" books, and will help show how important and fun reading is.
