Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The key to teaching theater is story telling, and a big part of story telling is sound effects. Having access to these items will make it much easier for students to put on productions.
I teach 6-8th grade middle school students that love to express themselves.
These students love to create and perform anything, they love the chance to be themselves. They enjoy trying new things, but don't often have the opportunity as this is a low income school.
My Project
Students will be able to use these materials to create a variety of theater performances. The Launchpad is a piece of technology that will allow students to produce sound effects at the push of a button. As this product will be used by students I have also asked for a warranty and a case to keep the pad safe when moving from the classroom to the theater. The sound effect Cd's will allow students to easily find sounds that they will use in the production, which then can load onto to the Launchpad to use with one touch. This will make the use of sound effects much more seamless during a production.
With these items students will actually be the ones finding the sounds they need an operating the sound during performances.
This makes it much more hands on, before myself or another adult would have to find the sound effects and run the shows. This will give students the ability to see what it is like being a sound designer of a show.
