Bienvenidos a la clase de Maestra Anna! Kindergarten is fun in my classroom because we learn Spanish and English. Students who speak only one language at home get to learn both languages at school. We have fun and work hard!
My class consists of a mix of 30 kindergarten students, some who speak Spanish and some English.
We are a Title 1 school, so many students come from low-income homes. My students are energetic and excited about learning! Sometimes activities can be difficult to manage because we have so many kiddos in one classroom and not enough supplies.
My Project
Each day we do literacy activities, such as writing, phonics, fine motor skills, and listening to books. Right now I have some books on tape, but I'd love to upgrade to books on CD so that students are easily able to manage themselves independently. With 30 students it is hard for me to coordinate fun, engaging activities such as different literacy centers. A listening station that is simple to use for 5 & 6 year olds is my goal!
The materials I'm asking for are engaging, colorful books in Spanish that I've read and know students love.
Having books on CD will allow students to hear native Spanish speakers reading. It will give them the opportunity to improve their vocabulary, learn how to follow along with the text being read and gain knowledge of using technology independently. Students love hearing stories read to them and many do not get that opportunity anywhere other than at school.
