Book Binding!

My students need a binding machine and binding spines that will hold together the class books that we make and send home daily and put into our classroom library.

My Students

Class books are a big part of my classroom. We make 2 a week, from letters to numbers and everything in between. We make the class books in relation to the content being taught. The class books cover all academic areas. The students love to create these books and to see their writing and ideas.

I work at a low-income school in an inner-city school district.

We have four classrooms at every grade level, as well as an Early Childhood Special Education classroom and we also house one of two dual language programs for the district. I have 23 students in my class, 14 boys and 9 girls. I have 4 students who have one-on-one paras as well. I am also the medically fragile Kindergarten classroom in our building. I part of my classroom with the Special Education teacher for K/1st. grade. The students in my class are a mix of abilities and race. They love to learn and to make these class books. They are a creative group of students who love to help others.

My Project

The students make several class books a week on a specific topic. I then use our binding machine in the building and then send the books home with every student, then the books go into our class library. With the traditional comb bindings, the pages get ripped and torn out of the books very easily. The ProClick binding machine is a circular binding machine, which will make it a lot more difficult for the pages to come out. The students love to read these class books at home and then in the classroom library workstation.

Your donation will go to purchase a binding machine that is functional for products created by Kindergartners.

The sturdiness of the binding spines will allow the students to enjoy their creations for the whole school year.
