My Students

Remember that feeling when you were in the middle of a series and you couldn't wait to read the next book? Imagine further that the Media Center is your main source of reading and the book was not on the shelf because they didn't have the funds to purchase it...

Our school is a newly transformed K-8 Project-Based Learning school.

Just two short years ago, we were a traditional K-5 elementary that housed only 175 students. Now we are a K-8 school that boasts a population of over 500! Unfortunately our Media Center funds have not been able to support the increased number of students, and our students are Readers with a capital R! I have trouble keeping up with their requests for new materials. Purchasing new materials (and doing so for specific students, even) is the easiest way to connect students to their Media Center. It helps me build community and it makes their voices heard.

My Project

Students will use these materials to READ! They are so passionate about reading at our school, it's hard to keep up! To encourage and promote their love of reading, I want to be sure the latest titles and requests are on the shelves. Supporting this grant will enable me to do so.

Help them feel like this library belongs to them! Our students will use these books to fuel their enthusiasm for reading. Because they are so excited to read them, they will in turn recommend them to their friends and spread the love of reading throughout our school community.
