Every year I am surprised that the majority of my students have never sat down and played a board game with their parents. They have not even heard of classics, like Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders.
Students range in age three to five, with academic ability staggered.
Our program is a full day program with before and after care. Our students are very diverse coming from in district and neighboring districts. The purpose of our PreK program is to help students prepare for K and for early intervention for those students in need.
My Project
Game day(s) with parents. Playing games with your kids is a perfect way to spend time together and build learning skills at the same time. What your child most wants and needs is to be with you with no goal in mind beyond the joy of spending time together. Nothing bolsters your child's'' self-esteem more! So, why not pull out an old board game? Playing games is an easy and excellent way to spend unhurried, enjoyable time together.
Every year, I am surprised that the majority of my students have never sat down and played a board game with their parents.
In this day and age with the busy schedules everyone has, I think taking a day out to spend with your child and play games is extremely meaningful to our students.
