Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember how enjoyable it is to take your favorite book and cozy up while reading? My students love their independent reading time, but it can get uncomfortable sitting in hard 100-year old chairs!
My DC public school students have set their big goal to be the highest achieving middle schoolers in the District of Columbia - and they are already on their way!
In only four months my students have increased their standardized test scores on average 5%, increased their reading levels on average one grade level, and are excited to continue on that trajectory.
My Project
During our 30 minutes of independent reading my students love to sprawl out to comfortably enjoy their books. However, my hard floor and sparse number of pillows severely limits the "lounging room". With just these three bean bags my students will be able to relax and comfortably read their independent reading books.
