9 bean bag chairs, 17 students = 8 students on the floor.
I have 17 students who love to read.
I mean they love to read. I think that if I gave them a full day of reading, they would read and stay focused the entire time. They also love to share. We have had nine bean bag chairs in my room since the beginning of the school year. My students have nicely shared them since then, but with a few more, they could each have their own space.
My Project
I am requesting eight more bean bag chairs, so that every student in my classroom can have their own bean bag chair. Every day we break off for read to self and my students spread out around the room to read. Having 17 bean bag chairs would allow all my students to sit comfortably and spread out to their own space instead of sharing space with another. When we read in our own space we stay focused on what we are reading and really comprehend what we are reading.
These bean bag chairs will fill a basic need of comfort to every student.
At home our students are allowed to sit on their couches and beds to read. Let's give them that level of comfort here at school. Reading is at the core of learning and so I want to do whatever I can to make sure they are achieving in this area.
