This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Pencils, glue sticks, and dry erase markers: basic supplies for extraordinary learning!

I teach fourth grade in a rural, low-income area of Northern California.

We are considered a Title I school, as the vast majority of our students qualify for free and reduced rate lunch. We also have a very high percentage of English as a Second Language students.

My Project

In our classroom, we create exceptional notebooks that document our learning in a given subject area. This year, we have notebooks for language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. In addition to these notebooks, we also foster group learning by sketching out our ideas onto mini whiteboards. The three supplies I am requesting are pencils, glue sticks, and dry erase markers. These supplies are all used on a daily basis. We answer class questions and share them with our whiteboards. We glue charts, diagrams, and photographs into our notebooks. We write, write, and write some more! It is still September, and our supplies are already running low. Great learning has taken place, and we aim to go further!
