My Students
My students come to school with smiling faces, excited to learn something new. They are active, energetic learners. Therefore, we complete a lot of hands-on activities to get them up and moving around.
95%.
This number represents the students living below the poverty line in my school. These students want to learn. They come to school hungry with the desire to learn. My job, my passion, is to feed that desire so that learning continues at home and throughout the lives of each child.
My Project
Most of my students know more about food stamps than they do about budgeting. The requested resources will allow our class to complete a unit on economics. Students will learn about budgeting, including both savings and expenses. The students will complete jobs to earn their "paychecks." They will complete hands-on activities such as making a duct tape wallet, creating a budget, finding coupons and sales, running a "store," and paying their bills. My students need financial literacy books, math games, play money, and office supplies, including duct tape and folders, in order to complete activities to improves their financial literacy.
My students will develop a sense of community as they work together to create their own economy.
As the project continues, my students will learn valuable financial literacy life skills including budgeting and savings. This will be the start of incredible things for my students.
