My Students

Help my students understand how money is used in the real world by helping us purchase some money skills games for our room.

Our school is a part of a small district in rural Kansas.

We have a high percentage of students on free and reduced lunch. My students work very hard to master all the necessary skills for third grade. Our district provides us with materials to help with the basic skills. However, my students learn the best when they can practice those skills with fun and exciting games that are tied to things in the real world. When we practice skills with games at centers, the kids retain the skills and are able to apply them more.

My Project

The activities that we are asking for will allow us to work on money skills in our centers. Students will be learning about money and change with the various games like "Allowance" and "Break the Bank." These high interest games will guarantee that students remember the skills taught in their daily lives and on the Kansas State Assessment. Research shows that students that practice skills with hands on activities retain much more than their peers. Help us get a handle on our money skills.

Your support of this project will allow my students a fun way to practice their money skills.

We will also be using these resources with our after school tutoring kids and within our MTSS team time to help students who are struggling with these concepts. These games will also develop skills of students who are able to handle money in the world today.
