Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

High need Special Education class: Autism is sense-sational. The Autism program requires many concrete visual representation of what is being taught. In all areas their is always a visual or a resource that can be used to make the learning more concrete for learners with autism that learn visually, kinesthetic or hands-on.

Children with autism require much more than just textbooks to learn language, reading writing, arithmetic, science, social studies, health, and art. Students need learning to be more visual and more hands on. All learners will benefit from learning through more than just textbooks. They need resources, materials that will make learning more interactive and even more engaging. Through these materials learners will be able to make sense of what they are learning.

My students need materials to open their eyes, ears and mind to the world around them. Autism impacts their learning in ways that can not be met through just textbooks. The resources I have selected for my class include science kits on the five senses that will allow them to explore and use all their five senses, it also includes a water cycle kit, a plant life cycle kit, a frog habitat a sensory dome and a color mixer lab. We need to meet the needs of the students by providing them with the resources out there that will make learning accessible.

Your help will ensure that my students will have the opportunity and the resources to learn and understand concepts across the curriculum. Your contributions will make it possible for children with autism to make sense of the world around them.
