My Students

Do you remember what it was like when you first became immersed in art and expressing yourself creatively? My students are absolutely in love with art and learning about artists.

I teach a dynamic group of second graders in a diverse, urban school in NY.

They love our sock monkey collection, dancing, learning about artists, learning about science, learning about history and reading. They are kind, inquisitive, enthusiastic and funny.

My Project

My students learn about different famous artists each week. At the end of the week, we create art inspired by that week's artist. It is often my students' favorite part of the week. I would love for my students to be able to have brightly colored markers and neon colored pencils. These will make our art projects really pop! I would also like to have white cray-pas oil pastels to draw with before we paint. We could also use construction paper for collage projects.
