My Students

Have you ever been frustrated by a book that is too hard? Have you ever been bored by a book that is too easy? I don't want my students to feel this way, so I am requesting a leveled library! I want my students to read books that are at their appropriate, instructional reading level.

I teach kindergarten to 23 wonderful, eager to learn students.

I teach full day kindergarten at a public school in Indianapolis. My students are very important to me. I strive to find new materials to help my students on a daily basis. I am constantly trying to find new ways to motivate them to learn.

My Project

This project will provide my class with a leveled library. A leveled library will provide appropriate reading material for my students. I want my students to be able to know what level they are on and be encouraged when they progress to the next level. I have some picture books in my classroom, but they are not leveled. I also would like to incorporate more nonfiction books. My books are organized by theme. My students are eager to read, but sometimes pick books that are too hard or too easy. A leveled library, including books, bins, and mobile cart, will provide books that are organized by reading level. Having a leveled library will help them choose appropriately and not become too frustrated or bored with reading.
