Adding Spice to the Well Seasoned Curriculum

My students need 15 books, including a book about Abraham Lincoln and a children's version of Gulliver's Travels.

The enjoyment of reading promotes fluency, comprehension, vocabulary development and future success in school. I teach second grade in a small, K – 12 school district in rural, New York state. I would love to support and enhance my curriculum with fifteen of the latest children’s literature books.

My second grade curriculum is filled with many different interdisciplinary units of study. During the course of the year we study everything from Johnny Appleseed to Zoology. In each of these units of study, we use children's literature books (trade books) to help the students acquire new information and garner a love of learning. Many of the books that I use are yard sale purchases, library discards, or otherwise inexpensive finds.....but, still good literature. Recently, I attended a workshop on children's books which were published during the last year. There are so many wonderful new books out there! I would love to spice up my curriculum with newly published books!

Receiving copies of fifteen newly published children's literature books, would add spice to our already well seasoned curriculum!

Your generosity and support would enhance my curriculum and pique my students desire to absorb and learn all they can.
