I teach 9th grade English in North Carolina. One of the interesting things about the district I teach in is the attendance policy. Students are only allowed to miss 10 school days before they automatically fail the class and have to stay after school to make up the time. In addition, if they automatically fail the class, the automatically fail 9th grade seeing as my class is one that they have to pass in order to go to the next grade.

Because this flu season is particularly bad, I try my best to keep my students as healthy as possible. For example, I no longer lend out pens, but give them out so we don't share germs. In addition, I always try to keep a box of tissues and hand sanitizer close by. Unfortunately, my stock of these materials is falling short of the demand.

In order to fulfill the demand, I am asking for not only tissues and hand sanitizer, but also Clorox wipes and Lysol. Hopefully we can help students come to school with a runny nose and also provide preventative measures by cleaning the desks and spraying door handles. The best way to excel in school is if you are actually in school, and I believe that these supplies will help students come healthy and to be engaged in learning.

What is so awesome about this project is that you will truly have a direct effect on their education! By using one hand sanitizer wipe that YOU donated, a student will be able to remain healthy, vivacious, and excited to learn. These products will be used and appreciated. My students will see your donation as a personal investment to their education and their future--I guarantee you, they will be grateful. Please help however you can!
