My Students

All dressed up and nowhere to go? I have spent the past year learning about innovative ways to integrate technology in the classroom. I've created a website filled with technology infused learning opportunities. I just need the tools for my students to have access to this resource.

I teach a diverse group of students from many different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds in a high poverty school.

The majority of my students do not have access to technology at home, putting them at a disadvantage in a technology driven world where they must compete against other students with technology skills. Our school district is comprised of four schools that serve two small towns. It is somewhat unique in that it has a "small town" feel yet it is in an urban area situated near Oakland and San Francisco. Because we are such a small district there is a strong sense of family and community, but we struggle to have the same resources that are available in larger districts.

My Project

Access to technology will allow my students to have a choice in how they present their learning. They will write blog posts, design infographics, create slide presentations, and make videos for book trailers, public service announcements, and commercials. These learning products are shareable and will allow my students to connect with learners beyond the four walls of our classroom. My students will learn to be digital citizens and to use their voice in a positive way through "Genius Hour" projects.

With access to technology, my students will be able to collaborate on research projects, share their ideas with a wider audience, and get meaningful feedback on their writing from their peers.
