Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My teaching partner and I looped up from first grade to second grade in our dual language school. Our students are doing so well that our classroom libraries are no longer challenging and engaging them. The students are voracious readers who need chapter books. This is a positive problem!

Our second grade students are learning to read, write, speak and listen in both Spanish and English.

More importantly they are learning to work cooperatively in groups and to cherish one each others culture. They know there is a world full of various cultures waiting for them.

My Project

When our students see the chapter books available to them on a daily basis (and to take home!)they will be able to continue learning to read in both languages because these interesting, good fit, and challenging books will motivate them. They know they can learn about their world through books.

The broad impact this donation will make for our students is that it will encourage them to become life long readers and life long learners.

Our students have moved from learning to read to reading to learn... and they are eager to learn right now.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
