My Students

I am a math teacher ( AIS~ and ~ CLUSTER ) . I would like all my students to have the opportunity to have their own base ten magnetic board so they can investigate~ learn ~enjoy math ! The students are eager to learn but sometimes we don't have enough of the math tools needed for unit of study .

My students come from low-income families , but that doesn't stop them from coming to school .

They work hard and SOOO much want to learn! They truly enjoy math ~~ and when you really get into the math lesson with a "hands -on approach" the students are very excited and interested in the lesson on a deeper level . More conversations and questions are part of the lesson.

My Project

Base ten blocks are used in many units of study. Building number sense , addition, subtraction , multiplication, division. I incorporate the base ten blocks into all these domains of study. They are a GREAT resource !!! The students will learn what each skill looks like ( visual representation is so important in math) . They can " see" what subtraction and addition looks like, and how they are inverse operations . Etc.....

The students will be overjoyed if they have their own board .

Students are fascinated when they make a " connection" in math..it's their " light bulb " moment . When a teacher is part of that moment , you know you've been successful !
