This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am starting a new year in a new grade at a new school. You could call this a fresh start.

I will teach 5th grade students at a school with a high free and reduced lunch population.

Despite what my students may not have, they come ready to learn. Their goal is to be ready for middle school. They also want to set a great example for the rest of the school since they are the oldest kids in the school.

My Project

I am coming into this school year with no materials to help my students prepare for middle school. I taught 1st grade for six years and am new to 5th grade. I have requested different types of hands-on materials such as games, interactive whiteboard software, grade level appropriate books, and math journals to increase student engagement. The materials that I have requested will help prepare my 5th graders to tackle the common core state standards and excel on their 5th grade assessments.

This project is important to me because it represents a fresh start at a new school in a new grade.

It represents materials that will help my students excel in 5th grade. Lastly, this project represents me giving my students the tools to be ready for middle school and their 5th grade assessments.
