This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Help me teach the language to my preschoolers! I teach public preschool in an inner city. I have 30 students ranging in age from 3 to 5 years old, 33% are special education students. Eighty percent of my students are Non-English speaking and come from low income families. It is my job as their teacher, to not only help them acquire the language but also to develop a love for learning.

Help students learn English through listening. A major goal in my classroom is to help young children develop oral language. One way of developing oral language is through listening. Having a listening center in my classroom will allow my students to listen to a wide range of children’s literature and music.

In order for my students to enjoy and discover a variety of music and literature, it is important to have a listening center. The listening center will allow a group of children to put on head phones and hear the phonetics of the language while at the same time listen to wonderful stories. Audio books provide students an alternative way to acquire knowledge and allow interactive learning to take place.

Your donation of a listening center will help my students to develop oral language, and strengthen their receptive language. Preschool is a child’s first experience in school, it is my job as their teacher to give them a wonderful learning experience, now is your opportunity to help.
