This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember seeing that amazing new toy on TV and hoping you would receive it for the upcoming holiday? My students have been talking about the iPad mini since before it was announced. They are eager learners and they all have wishes of receiving one this holiday season.

I teach third grade to a unique and extraordinary group of students.

Most of my students are English language learners who need plenty of visuals to grasp difficult standards. They are motivated learners that like to have fun and like to be challenged!

My Project

I can picture having an iPod/iPad for each of my students. Apple has developed thousands of educational applications that can help my students master any skill. Having had 7 iPods funded through DonorsChoose.org, I know first hand the positive impact this technology has had on my students. This tool helps me differentiate instruction and engages my students to a level that is incredible! They are able to practice every skill possible and the growth I saw through the use of iPods in the classroom is impressive. The reading apps that are readily available on this tool are amazing! I envision having my students use the pads during our nonfiction reading and writing units. iTunes has hundreds of nonfiction texts the students can explore. They can also use them to research their nonfiction report topics. On the iPad students will have access to IMovie and Keynote so that instead of simply typing their report they can create movies and presentations and truly be 21st century kids!

I want to provide the best education possible for each and every one of my students.

In this new age of technology it is extremely important for our youth to know how to use the various forms of technology available to them. By the time my students reach high school, paper will be a thing of the past. Help my students explore new technology and master their grade level standards all with the same tool!
