My Students

My students are all on the Autism spectrum which makes reaching them using only traditional educational instruction very difficult. My students need a way to learn and interact with literature as independently as possible and in a way that interaction with the teacher is minimal.

9 students in my class are nonverbal and rely only on gestures and in some cases one word utterances to communicate.

Teaching them to read is difficult, assessing understanding is even more challenging. I have 7 additional students that I see on a daily basis for educational support. For all my students, interactions with teachers are a challenge. For all my students, comprehension of text and understanding of tasks is a challenge.

My Project

These interactive White board programs are an amazing asset to the classroom! I received the level two package today and have had a chance to preview it and work with it with a few students and have come to the conclusion that some of my younger students would also benefit, but will need level one in order to do so! The set includes math, social studies and science. It presents a story to the student which is read aloud and then has interactive activities that are visually stimulating, offer immediate feedback and auto correction and are clear in objective and task.

This program will be a GREAT tool for classroom use.

Not only will you help my 9 nonverbal students and my 7 aspergers students, you will help a school FULL of low income and second language learners as I plan to provide these for checkout to other teachers so that they are used to their full potential!
