My students love to read and are eager to learn. I teach 6th grade Reading Intervention and 6th Grade English Language Arts in a charter school in the South LA area where more than 90% of my students receive free or reduced lunch. The school my students attend was recently transformed into a charter school, and in their first year, improved their Academic Performance Index (API) by 105 points, one of the largest improvements in the state! We've positively transformed the school culture into one of responsibility, respect, safety, and scholarship. My students appreciate our high expectations for them and enjoy learning in a space where they are respected, supported, and inspired to succeed. Your support will help these scholars grow!
