Although I have not yet met my students, since the school year has not started, I know that for many of them, school is their second home. This is especially true for the students of low-income families where many of the students are taking care of their siblings. Many of my students do not have access to books outside of school. I want to provide a sense of individual responsibility in my classroom library. With the donation of book bins and a book cart, I can start to build my first grade classroom library for my students. These supplies will provide a place where students can feel special, have their own "book cubby," and choose their own book selections.
