Hello, I have twenty wonderful students at Troy Elementary. We are a Title 1 school with many less fortunate students. During this past book fair, some of my students were disappointed because they were not able to purchase any books. While helping my children understand this, I found that the majority of my students do not have any books at home. I would love to be able to provide them each with at least three books of their very own. My class participates in collecting "lucky bucks" for good behavior. Then they are allowed to purchase an item for the "Lucky Buck Store". These items are usually small toys and things that can be purchased on a teacher's salary. My intentions would be to allow them to shop for their very own book for their home library. My students love Junie B. Jones, Clifford, and Franklin books. My proposal is to provide my students to opportunity to get some books to carry home and call their own. My students love books and this would be so special to them. I want to also put emphasis on how important it is to have books at home to read for pleasure. Please help out my classroom by providing us with funding for books to send home. I think three books per student would really promote reading at home and allow my students to be proud of the books they have.
