Reading is the framework for a good education. As third graders, it is very important for them to foster a love for reading. To help in making my students excellent readers, I am implementing guided reading and literature circles in my classroom.
I have been told by my curriculum coordinator that my classroom library should have at least 300 titles for my students to choose from. I am way off from that with only about 125. I am looking for some way to get books for my classroom library that the students will be interested in. I would like to purchase all types of books such as fiction and non-fiction, chapter books, picture books, poetry books, etc.
I feel that being able to develop the love for reading will in turn help raise the students' test scores and ability levels. This is very important to the state of North Carolina with our End of Grade Testing that takes place each year. Please help me to add to my classroom library in order for my students to have the opportunities that they need to develop a love for reading.
