Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a second grade teacher at Chicago International Charter School - Bucktown Campus. During our very cold Chicago winters, the children often have to stay inside during recess. With today's video games and electronics, many of my students have never been exposed to classic board games like Candyland, Checkers, Monopoly, or Boggle. I would like to have games available to my students to play during the dreaded indoor recess times. Many of these games teach invaluable skills such as how to share and use strategies. I would like to have a these games available to my students in order to teach them how to play together. It sounds silly, but many of my second graders have not been taught how to take turns, share, or be a "good sport." Indoor recess is the perfect time for me to teach my students these practical skills that they will use for the rest of their lives!
