My Students

"My arm hurts." These are words that everyone has muttered at one point or another. People take for granted the ability to communicate their wants and needs. In my classroom, this is not a luxury we are able to experience. With your help, I know that my students can gain this vital skill.

I currently teach a group of six students with multiple disabilities.

We have a self-contained classroom in the local high school. This is the only school in the county that will service students with profound disabilities. My students do not use language, but several do use sign language to communicate basic needs. We are working to increase my students language. This is a functional skill that will help them both academically and in recreation. This will help their families better care for them, and help my students to live a more fulfilling life. Thank you for your time and support!

My Project

I am requesting a tablet device to increase the use of technology in our classroom as well as provide my students an outlet for communication. I hope to use this device to demonstrate the abilities my students have, and to also teach families the best way to communicate with their child.

This project is vital to my students' lives.

It will increase the quality of their life, and it will also allow them a functional skill for communicating with the public. Their peers will be able to better understand them, and learning will be less difficult for them.
