Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you know how many high frequency words are in text we read? My students know that about 75% of the text they read are high frequency words.

Many of my students are English language learners.

They are very interested in their learning. They want to strive for the best. They are working hard on learning their fry words or high frequency words in order to become better readers. They practice every day.

My Project

My students need shipping tags, book rings, markers, dry erase markers, dry erase file folders to help them learn their fry words. They will use the materials as follows: They will write the words they do not know on the shipping labels and put them on a ring so that they can take them home to practice and bring them to school so they can practice in class as well. The file folders will be converted into dry erase boards using the dry erase roll. They will use these to practice writing their high frequency words with patterns. They must be able to read and spell the words.

My students will learn their high frequency words and become better readers.

This will help prepare them for the upcoming state test and for third grade. They will have the materials necessary to practice their words. This will also allow them to keep their high frequency words in a place they know is safe and at hands reach.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
