My Students

Savings account? Interest? Credit? What's all that about? When discussing finance with students its all question marks. Giving our urban students a better knowledge of money, savings, and finances, we will be giving them a basis for a successful financial future.

We are a middle school striving for success with high test scores amidst a sea of surrounding high schools with the lowest graduation rates of any major city in New York.

Our students are driven and succeeding, overcoming struggles as a school community!

My Project

My students soak up knowledge. Our middle school students are taking it all in. They are connecting the dots between the importance of successful grades and math with how that ties into your life, be that their future profession or their day to day activities (i.e. personal finance)! The literature on finance, banking, money, and budgeting are kid-friendly and is something that the students can read, take notes on, and gain interest in, while reading a good book. The games about budgeting and managing money will be used after school as a fun way to learn about money!

I think if we don't teach our kids about money management and finance, we are failing them.

Setting them up for a lifetime of poor financial choices. This is an opportunity to give them a solid basis of understanding on a topic that will effect them throughout their lives!
