My Students

Do you remember reading with your parents when you were little? My favorite memories are snuggled on my mom's bed with a good book, while my mom asked me about my opinions of the characters and understanding of the story. My students love to listen to a good story, but...

Sadly, they are missing many opportunities to interact with stories.

My 16 ELL students are hardworking and eager to reach their end-of-first-grade goals. Though they come from low-income, Spanish-speaking families, their desire to understand and interact with the English language is readily apparent throughout the school day. They crave more utilizable vocabulary; vocabulary that comes from books and through interaction with a story.

My Project

By providing my students with the listening center and interacting opportunities that the requested resources offer, I will be able to effectively structure their independent work time to meet their reading, comprehension, listening, and vocabulary needs. This type of wholistic instruction is unique to listening centers, and is not only highly beneficial to English education, but is worlds of fun for my students!

By funding this project, you will be directly impacting the futures of 16 bright-eyed children who have the potential to change the world with their insight and curiosity.

By supplying them with access to the language that they so deeply wish to learn, you are directly handing them the tools that they need to become successful citizens and college graduates!
