This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our music program in a growth spurt, but our funding is not keeping up with our needs. With each year there are more students interested in music which means sharing resources.

I work with an extraordinary group of young musicians.

These young people are mostly low income minority students and, despite financial hardships like having to share musical resources such as music stands, have shown growth and motivation to succeed in music.

My Project

At the present time our band shares music stands to hold there music. Sometimes three students may share the same stand which makes it difficult for the ones on each end to see their music. This also means they must sit as close to each other as possible to be closer to their music.

If our music students have the necessary number of music stands needed they will acquire two things, being able to focus on their playing technique instead of trying to read from a distance and they will feel pride in themselves as well as their school, because they won't feel less than the other schools, that have equipment.
