This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The pressure of standardized testing takes a toll on all students. The students are put in situations that are not conducive to optimal testing situations. The numbers of 35 students to a class does not allow for privacy for focus and testing.

My students are mostly very creative, and gifted students.

They are for the most part very creative, and eager to achieve. The number of 35 students in the class, however, does create a testing situation that allows for many to have "wandering eyes." The class sizes in California continue to grow, yet the classroom size has not increased to accommodate the changes. The pressure to be highly achieving, gifted and successful indicates a need for students to have access to privacy panels for the testing experience.

My Project

With the pencils and testing privacy panels, my students will have the opportunity for a fair and equitable testing setting. Students will be able to work independently during the tests, without fear of someone near looking on, to get an answer. This will help most of my students feel less apprehensive, as they can take the test in the privacy of their own "office space."

My students actually requested me to write this project on their own, based on the funding of other projects we have received.

They want to have the best opportunity to be highly successful on all their testing situations.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
