Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Mommy doesn't speak English. She cannot read English books to me." After hearing these comments over and over, I need to find a way to help my students hear English at home and not just at school.

Most of my students come from a Spanish speaking home.

Their parents cannot help them with homework, especially in language arts. My students do not have an English speaking role model outside of our school. These students need to practice hearing, speaking and reading English as much as possible at school and at home.

My Project

It is not possible for me to go home with the students, but it is possible to record my voice giving English lessons onto Cd's to send home. This is one way our English lessons can continue at my students' homes. I would also love to enrich their home environment with rich English literature. I want it possible for each student to take home a book and it's CD. This again will enforce the English language at home. My students need read along CDs and cassette/CD recorder to help my students.

I truly feel sending recorded English lessons and stories on Cd's home will make a difference to my students' English language development.

Hearing English at school and at home will help not only my students but also their parents. The parents will appreciate the English lesson, as they too can learn from them. Please consider this project for your support.
