This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Technology surrounds us! We need to groom our youth to understand the advancements and latest features of this technology. In addition, the link between learning and technology is great-and every student should have the opportunity to see this in their classroom!

My students are enthusiastic 3rd graders who are from a low income area and all receive free or reduced lunch.

Most of the students are second language learners and their primary home language is Spanish. Their test scores, for the most part, fall at basic, or below basic, in language arts and math. They are eager and motivated to become stronger learners.

My Project

I am requesting an Apple iPad2 for my students as a way to show them the fascinating link between learning and technology. Literacy and Math is not always best learned using a piece of paper, or even a book. My students will be given the opportunity to use this iPad as they reinforce skills that we are learning in class with apps in both reading and math. As we focus on different curriculum areas, we will be able to encourage practice with the use of our iPad. I hold centers every week where students rotate to different groups, based on a California State Standard. One center each week will be an iPad center.

This project is important and will impact my students because they will be given the opportunity to work hands-on with the iPad, and get the opportunity to grow as a learner using technology!
