Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"If you always do, what you always did, you will always get what you always got." We can not expect a different outcome by doing the same thing over and over again.

My students are eager and enthusiastic learners who work hard to accomplish their individual goals.

While in school they are creative thinkers and active participants who are motivated to succeed. However for many, their everyday life at home consists of struggles and worries. Our school is located in a high poverty area where many families simply do not have the funds to purchase electronic devices such as a netbook. Many parents have lost their jobs and are doing whatever it takes to take care of their children. I want my class to be an escape from their struggles through exploration and achievement of learning.

My Project

During our workshop work time, my teacher assistant and I work with students in small groups. These groups are arranged to meet specific needs, challenge those students that need to be challenged and provide intervention for others on specific skills. The addition of a netbook during this time will allow students to work on their individualized goals. This will not only provide differentiated instruction and practice for students, but also teach them to be responsible learners.

As a teacher it is my job to provide the best education possible for my students.

Their socioeconomic struggles should not be a factor in education. My students deserve adequate educational tools that will assist them to achieve their greatest academic success.
