Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

According to John Dewey, "If we teach today as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow."

I teach a group of bright, energetic, and positive second graders at YES Academy.

They come to school ready to learn despite the personal challenges they face on a daily basis. YES Academy is located in South Los Angeles in Local District 3, LAUSD and all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch due to their socio-economic status. The area of the school is infested with a high rate of crime and according the the LAPD, many students have witnessed violence in their area.

My Project

Receiving a great working projector will enhance my lessons in all subject areas and it will especially be helpful for students who are visual learners and English Learners so that they will be able to make better connections with the multiple subjects taught. Having a reliable printer will help me print out rubrics, standards, and letter correspondence to parents. Students will also be able to print out class reports that they type up in class.

This project is so important for me because I believe having reliable technology is a key to the future.

Most importantly, my students and I will be forever grateful for the generosity given by donors. Thank you!!
